Meninas reproduction in oil
This is one of last Antonio's artworks, it consists in a reproduction of Velazquez's Meninas. Meninas is a master piece painted by Velazquez in 1656. On the painting appears, in front of, from left to right, Velazquez, Maria Agustina Sarmiento and a menina, the infanta Margarita, Isabel Velasco, the other menina and the dwarfs Maribarbola and Nicolas Pertusato. Marcela de Ulloa and Guadaddamas appear in backgroud. The mirror reflects the kings Felipe IV and Mariana of Austria.
The scene depicts a moment when the artist is painting and the infanta is looking how he works. It was a usually in the palace.
